Terms of Use

Last updated: 17 September 2026

These terms cover your use of Rember, a voice-to-text app for the Mac, and the rember-ebon.vercel.app website. By downloading or using Rember you agree to them.

The app

Rember is provided free of charge for personal and commercial use. You may install it on any Mac you own or control. You may not sell, rent or redistribute Rember itself, or remove its signatures or notices. The app is licensed to you, not sold; all rights not granted here are reserved.

What runs where

Rember records and transcribes on your Mac. If you choose to add an API key for a third-party language model provider (such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google), your transcript text is sent to that provider under your own account and their terms. You are responsible for that account, its costs and its use. Models you download inside the app come from their respective publishers on Hugging Face and are subject to their own licences.

Your content

Everything you dictate, and everything Rember produces from it, is yours. Rember stores it on your Mac and never uploads it. You are responsible for what you dictate and where you paste it, and for complying with any law that applies to recording other people, including on calls when system audio capture is turned on.

Updates

Rember checks for updates with Sparkle and offers them to you. Updates may change or remove features. You can turn automatic checks off in the app.

No warranty

Rember is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or accuracy of transcription. Speech recognition and language models make mistakes; check anything important before you rely on it.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer of Rember is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the app or website. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for Rember, which is nothing.

Changes

These terms may change when the app does. The date at the top tells you when they last did. Continuing to use Rember after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
